78th Annual Meeting of SWCD Directors - October 29-31, 2018

Overview

The Annual Meeting of Texas Soil and Water Conservation District Directors is a meeting that provides Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Directors, SWCD employees, and other conservation partners the opportunity to examine issues relevant to the conservation of the State’s natural resources. Speakers from the local, state, and national levels will address attendees concerning a wide variety of agricultural and conservation topics.

Annual Meeting Tours

Auxiliary Tour: Walking Tour of Fort Worth Botanic Gardens
The walking tour will be held on Tuesday, October 30th, tickets are $30 and the tour will be capped at 60 participants. The Fort Worth Japanese Garden was completed in 1973. It is a traditional stroll garden with winding path through the landscapes and around ponds. The garden consists of 7.5 acres filled with cherry trees, Japanese maples, magnolias, bamboo, bridges and ponds which are home to over 1,200 Koi fish.

Conservation Tour: Walking Tour of Fort Worth Stockyards
The walking tour will be held on Wednesday, October 31st and tickets are $30. This legendary tour explores Texas’ rich history from the days of Indians, through the trail-drive era and to the coming of the rail road. The tour visits the Fort Worth Stockyards most captivating landmarks including the Livestock Exchange Building once called the “Wall Street of the West” and the original cattle pens from Cattleman’s Catwalk for a panoramic view of the Historic District. Explore Mule Alley and Cowtown Coliseum, site of the World’s first indoor rodeo and the old Hog and Sheep Barns now Stockyards Station. Along the way an expert tour guide will give you an authentic history of the cattle drive era and unique history of Texas.
