Sunset Advisory Commission Review

Sunset Advisory Commission Invites Public Input on the TSSWCB and the Texas Invasive Species Coordinating Committee

The Texas Sunset Act requires the Sunset Commission to review the agency and committee periodically to recommend whether to continue them and/or change state law to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. The Commission has reviewed the mission and performance of the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB) and the Texas Invasive Species Coordinating Committee (TISCC).

The Legislature continued the TSSWCB and TISCC by enacting Senate Bill 1424, signed by Governor Abbott on June 2, 2023. The Sunset Commission will conduct a special purpose review, limited to the Flood Control Dam Program, of the TSSWCB Flood Control/Dam Program upon the termination of the next legislative session (89R).
