Broad-based Communication and Forecasting for Environmental Quality

Project Goals/Objectives: The goal of this project is to develop a plan of action to create and maintain a website for water quality & other environmental issues and environmental quality broadcast spots to educate the public in the target watersheds in partnership with StormCenter Communications Inc. and Houston Channel 2  (NBC Affiliate); develop partnerships with state, federal and regional agencies and local governments as local content providers to provide information for the website and broadcast spots; publicize and promote the project; train partnering station and local content providers on developing, implementing and utilizing the Envirocast tools.

Project Location: Trinity-San Jacinto Coastal Basin; Lower Trinity River Basin; San Jacinto River Basin; San Jacinto - Brazos Coastal Basin; Lower Brazos River Basin; San Bernard River Basin; Brazos-Colorado Coastal Basin; in Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller and Wharton Counties

Project Costs: Federal ($725,000), Non-Federal Match ($583,748), Total Project ($1,308,748)
