Joe L. Ward, of Telephone, Texas, was appointed on June 22, 2005 by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board. Ward is a full time rancher and operates a Santa Gertrudis cow-calf operation. He is very active with his local community currently serving as a board member for the Fannin County Multi-purpose Complex, a volunteer for the Telephone Volunteer Fire Department, a director for the Bigbee Cemetery, and a member of the Telephone Baptist Church. He formerly served on the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He has been the Chairman of the Fannin County Republican Party for the past seven years. Ward served in the Army National Guard from 1969-1971 and in the Air Force National Guard from 1971-1976. Ward has interests in an insurance consulting business and investments in land and family-owned restaurants. He graduated from Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in Business.
