Role of the WCSC

Launched in November 2004, and funded through a CWA §319(h) NPS Grant, TSSWCB initiated a pilot project providing guidance and technical assistance to local stakeholder groups in developing and implementing Watershed Protection Plans (WPPs) in southeast and south central Texas. This WCSC is serving stakeholder groups in 47 counties comprising 40 Soil and Water Conservation Districts.  Two watersheds were selected for WPP development by the WCSC, the Plum Creek Watershed in Caldwell, Hays, and Travis Counties and the Geronimo Creek Watershed in Comal and Guadalupe Counties.  The WCSC has transitioned from selecting watersheds for WPP development, to implementing WPPs and information sharing between different WPP projects.
